- A. Running Corel Arcade Mania on Microsoft Windows 95
- =====================================================
-
- Corel Arcade Mania was released prior to the release of
- Microsoft Windows 95. As a result, Corel Arcade Mania has only
- been tested with beta versions of Microsoft Windows 95. Although
- Corel anticipates that Corel Arcade Mania will run on the release
- version of Microsoft Windows 95, we can't guarantee compatibility
- at this time.
-
-
- B. Installation issues and space requirements
- =============================================
-
- For the game to work properly, the Corel Arcade Mania CD should
- always be in your CD-ROM drive while playing the game.
-
-
- 1. Errors during installation
- -----------------------------
- If you encounter an error during the "MISC. Files" copy portion
- of the installation you may already have Microsoft Video For
- Windows on your system. If these files are already on your
- system they may be in use during the installation, or have
- invalid dates or data content.
-
- If the error refers to the MSACM.DRV file and "MS sources not
- being set up correctly", exit the Corel Arcade Mania Setup and
- delete MSACM.DRV from your Windows/System directory. Reinstall
- the Corel Arcade Mania program. MSACM.DRV is replaced by the
- a new version from the Corel Arcade Mania CD-ROM. If you are
- unfamiliar with this procedure, please call Corel Technical
- Support for assistance.
-
- 2. Hard disk space requirements
- -------------------------------
- Corel Arcade Mania requires the following hard drive space:
-
- - At least 3 MB on the drive on which Microsoft Windows is
- located. This space is used to install Microsoft Win32S and
- Microsoft WinG.
- - At least 4 MB of temporary space that's used briefly to
- decompress files during the installation.
- - At least 9 MB on the drive on which you plan to install Corel
- Arcade Mania.
-
-
-
- C. Improving the performance of Corel Arcade Mania
- ==================================================
- The performance of any CD-ROM application is greatly affected
- by the speed of your computer, the speed of your CD-ROM player,
- and the amount of RAM your system has available. To enjoy
- Corel Arcade Mania at its very best, Corel recommends running it
- on a Pentium machine.
-
- 1. Video performance
- --------------------
- If Corel Arcade Mania seems to be running slowly, performance
- may be improved by setting your video driver to 256 color mode.
- For more information about setting color mode, see the
- documentation provided by your video card manufacturer.
- (See also individual game notes section below)
-
-
- D. Notes on Individual Games
- ============================
-
- 1. Neutrino
- -----------
- If you experience short pauses or delays in the game as you are
- playing, choose Options from the Game Pause menu, and set Digital
- Music to OFF. This option change may help prevent this situation
- from re-occurring.
-
- 2. Lunar Fox
- ------------
- Playing Lunar Fox at a lower resolution may help the performance
- of this game. Please consult the Corel Arcade Mania documentation
- for help in changing the resolution using the Game Pause Option
- screen. If you choose to change screen resolutions while playing
- the game, the game begins again at the start of level one and all
- points gained up to this point are lost.
-
- 3. Nova 3
- ---------
- If you experience short delays in the game as you are playing,
- choose options from the game pause menu, and then set the
- Digital Music to OFF. This change may prevent any further delays.
-
-
- E. Troubleshooting
- ==================
-
- 1. Sound
- --------
- If you experience any sound problems with Corel Arcade Mania, contact
- the manufacturer of your sound card to make sure you have the
- latest drivers for your sound card. If you still have difficulties
- after installing the latest drivers, contact Corel Multimedia Technical
- Support.
-
- A. MIDI warning message
- -----------------------
- If you experience a Microsoft Windows warning message telling you
- that the default MIDI setup on your system may not be correct, the
- game may still function adequately. If you don't want this MIDI
- warning displayed in future game sessions, click the warning
- disable check box in the MIDI warning dialog box that appears.
-
- NOTE: Clicking the disable warning box has the same effect as
- adding the following entry to your WIN.INI file:
-
- [MCISEQ.DRV]
- DISABLEWARNING=TRUE
-
- 2. Video
- --------
- If you are experiencing any problems with graphics or animations,
- in Corel Arcade Mania, contact the manufacturer of your video card
- to make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. If
- you still have difficulties after installing the latest drivers,
- contact Corel Multimedia Technical Support.
-
- A. MATROX video cards
- ---------------------
- If you are having problems running Corel Arcade Mania in high
- color and resolution modes, try switching to 256 colors and/or
- 640x480 screen resolution. If you still experience problems and
- are using the WINSWITCH option in your Matrox video driver
- configuration, try disabling this feature. For further information
- consult your video card documentation.
-
- In Windows 95 you may notice that the game background is white
- instead of black. This doesn't affect the game in any way.
-
- B. Diamond Stealth video cards
- ------------------------------
- If you are having problems running Corel Arcade Mania in
- 24 bit color mode, try running the game in a different color mode.
- For further information consult your video card documentation.
-
-
- C. ATI MACH 32 and 64 video cards
- ---------------------------------
- In Windows 95 you may notice that in some instances the game
- background is white instead of black. This doesn't affect the game
- in any way.
-
-
- D. EMail and other warning messages
- -----------------------------------
- If you have warning messages running on your computer such as
- Network or EMail notification messages, you may experience color
- and/or screen refresh difficulties while playing Corel Arcade
- Mania. The game screen may refresh as you continue to play,
- however Corel recommends that you disable these types of warning
- messages be during game play.
-
- 3. Windows 95 Issues
- --------------------
- This game was designed to be installed and played under the Windows 3.1x
- operating system. As a result, you may experience minor problems when Corel Arcade Mania is played in the Windows 95 environment.
-
- A. Lunar Fox and blank screen when exiting
- ------------------------------------------
- When you exit Lunar Fox, it may occasionally appear that the game
- has stopped responding. In most cases simply pressing the ALT and
- ESC keys at the same time allows the game to continue.
-
- B. Background mat color
- -----------------------
- With certain video cards you may notice that the background mat
- surrounding the game play area may be white instead of black. This
- doesn't affect game play in any way.
